Club Competitions

Competition shoots are held throughout the year.  Competitions are over 50 targets with handicaps except for the James Young High Pheasant which is competed over 40 targets, pro rata handicaps to count.

Kay Cup  Held over 12 shoots throughout the year, discounting the top handicap score, the next six scores of each shooter are calculated to arrive at the best handicap aggregate score.

*Duncan Trophy is competed over the same dates as the Kay Cup above but with a slightly different format, where the top six scratch scores are recorded to arrive at the best scratch handicap score.

Clapperton Cup  A new competition in 2016 combining two disciplines ABT x20 and Sporting x30 .  Automatic Ball Trap targets are fired from an oscillating trap so the angle and elevation of targets is constantly changing and the targets are shot from five stands on arc some 20 yards behind the trap house

Silverburn Cup  50 Sporting with Handicaps to count.

Grouse Pairs , held just as the Grouse season starts in August this competition pairs two shooters together, a high handicapper and a low handicapper

James Young High Pheasant , shot over 40 targets from some of the highest points in the quarry offers a challenging competition

Gordon Arms Shield & Leicester Shield =  competed for on our last shoot of the year – the Christmas shoot, for the best scratch and handicap scores respectively.  However at this shoot no one goes away empty handed as it is a Prize shoot. All entrants bring a prize and the ‘lucky dip ‘ at the end is determined by the success or otherwise of the shooters handicap scores on that day.
